Minor Surgical Procedure
Joint Injections
We can inject painful joints with steroids, synthetic joint fluid, platelet rich plasma (PRP) and stem cells.
Surgical removal of lumps and bumps on the limbs
Surgical removal of abnormal growths on limbs, ensuring precise excision and thorough post-operative care.
Trigger Finger & DeQuervains Release
Surgical treatment for the condition where a finger gets stuck/ locked in a bent position, offering relief and restoring normal finger movement.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome causes nerve pain (numbness, pins and needles, shocking, etc.) to the thumb, index and middle fingers. We perform surgery to release the pressure on the nerves.
De Quervain's tenosynovitis
It is a condition that causes pain and tenderness around the base of your thumb on the wrist side. It occurs when the tendons that control thumb movement become inflamed and irritated.
These tendons travel through a tight tunnel in the wrist called the first dorsal compartment, along with the radial artery and nerve.
Inflammation and Symptoms
Repetitive motions that involve gripping or pinching can irritate the tendons and their sheaths, causing swelling and narrowing of the tunnel. This leads to the characteristic symptoms of De Quervain’s tenosynovitis:
- Pain and tenderness at the base of the thumb on the wrist side, especially when gripping or pinching.
- Swelling in the affected area.
- Difficulty moving the thumb, particularly thumb abduction and extension.
- Sometimes, a snapping sensation when moving the thumb.
Diagnosis
Doctors can usually diagnose De Quervain’s tenosynovitis based on a physical exam and your description of symptoms.
Treatment
Treatment for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis typically focuses on reducing inflammation and pain. This may involve:
- Rest: Avoid activities that aggravate the symptoms.
- Splinting: Wearing a splint to immobilize the thumb and wrist can promote healing.
- Ice therapy: Applying ice packs to the affected area for short periods can reduce inflammation.
- Anti-inflammatory medication: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or naproxen can help manage pain and inflammation.
- Corticosteroid injection: Injections directly into the inflamed area can provide targeted relief.
Rotator Cuff Surgery
Rotator cuff surgery is a procedure to repair a torn tendon in the shoulder. The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint and hold the ball (humerus) in the socket (glenoid) of the shoulder blade (scapula).
A torn rotator cuff can cause pain, weakness, and difficulty moving your arm. Rotator cuff surgery is usually performed arthroscopically, which means that several small incisions are made and a tiny camera is inserted into the joint. The surgeon then uses small tools to repair the torn tendon. In some cases, open surgery may be necessary. This involves making a larger incision to access the shoulder joint.
Joint Replacement Surgery
Joint replacement surgery is a surgical procedure where a worn-out or damaged joint, like your hip or knee, is replaced with an artificial implant. This is typically done when a worn out or damaged joint, causes arthritis with significant pain and limits your ability to move around. The surgery aims to relieve pain, stiffness, and inflammation, ultimately restoring mobility and improving your quality of life. It can empower you to walk, climb stairs, and enjoy activities you might have had to give up due to joint pain.
Hip Surgery
Hip surgery, also known as total hip replacement (THR), is a procedure where the damaged portions of the hip joint are replaced with artificial implants.
The Hip Joint:
Imagine the hip joint like a ball-and-socket joint. The ball, at the top of the thigh bone (femur), is called the femoral head. The socket, part of the pelvis, is called the acetabulum. A smooth, gliding surface called articular cartilage covers both the ball and socket, allowing for pain-free movement.
Why Hip Replacement Surgery
The Surgical Procedure
- Anesthesia: You'll receive either general anesthesia (you'll be asleep) or regional anesthesia (numbness in the lower body).
- Incision: The surgeon makes an incision on the side, front, or back of the hip to access the joint.
- Dislocation: The surgeon dislocates the ball from the socket.
- Closure: The surgeon closes the incision with stitches or staples.
Benefits of Hip Surgery
- Reduced pain and stiffness
- Improved mobility and function
- Enhanced quality of life
Recovery
If you’re considering hip surgery, discuss it thoroughly with us to understand if it’s the right course of treatment for you.
Knee Surgery
The knee is a complex joint that can be susceptible to various injuries and conditions. Knee surgery encompasses a variety of procedures to address these issues, but here’s a breakdown of two common surgeries:
Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used for diagnosing and treating knee problems.
Imagine a keyhole surgery. The surgeon makes small incisions around the knee and inserts a tiny camera called an arthroscope. The camera displays magnified images of the joint on a screen, allowing the surgeon to see inside the knee without a large incision.
Arthroscopy can be used for:
- Repairing torn meniscus cartilage (cushion between the femur and tibia)
- Trimming damaged cartilage
- Removing loose fragments of bone or cartilage
- Treating ligament injuries
Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
Total knee replacement is a surgery where the damaged parts of the knee joint are replaced with artificial implants.
Think of the knee joint again as a hinge with a smooth surface for gliding. In TKR surgery, the surgeon removes the damaged cartilage and bone from the femur (thigh bone), tibia (shin bone), and patella (kneecap). They then implant prosthetic components made of metal, plastic, or ceramic to create a new, smooth gliding surface.
Total Knee Replacement is typically performed for:
- Severe osteoarthritis (wearing down of cartilage)
- Rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory arthritis)
- Severe knee pain that limits daily activities
Benefits of Knee Surgery:
- Reduced pain and stiffness
- Improved mobility and function
- Enhanced quality of life

Surgery For Broken Bones (Fractures) of the Limbs
A broken (fractured) limb can be a painful and debilitating experience. Depending on the severity and location of the break, surgery may be necessary to properly realign and stabilize the bones for optimal healing.
Types of Fractures:
- Simple fracture: The clean break of one bone.
- Comminuted fracture: The bone is broken into multiple pieces.
- Open fracture: The broken bone pierces the skin.
When Surgery is Needed:
- The bones are significantly displaced (out of alignment).
- Multiple bone fragments are present (comminuted fracture).
- The break involves the joint.
- The break is open (bone protrudes through the skin).
- Non-surgical treatment, like a cast, is unlikely to be effective.
